Eleanor Vaughan-Davies
Illustrator, designer and maker
My name is Elle, and I am an illustrator, designer and costume maker.
I recently graduated with a 2.1 in Costume Design and Making (BA hons) from Nottingham Trent University.
Illustrating and designing are the main aspects of my creative life. I enjoy bringing colour to a page or screen. As a costume designer making a character come to life is as important as designing the set or make up.
I love to experiment with several media although I favor water colour paint and ink. I also have skill using acrylic, oil paints, oil and chalk pastels, charcoal and graphite. I find that Photoshop is a great way to convey designs.

I enjoy making costumes, whatever the time period or genre; I have made costumes for both males and females and at university we focused on specific techniques and ways of making.

During the summer of 2019 I was given the opportunity to have complete a two week placement at the National Theatre in London. I worked in the Ladies Making department where I made a 1960s dress. This experience has allowed me to see what it is really like in a professional making department. This placement has made me see how enthusiastic I am about following a career in costume.
